Friends of OldCommGuy (by Tim O’Neill)

The Internet in the 21st Century and Beyond.

This article to me is a very good one to show how things have changed in the 21st Century in a lot of things, technology, how we work, how we even get a job. The main focus I have seen in technology in the 21 Century is "Communication." We have communicated in ways that even Dr. Bell could ever dream of. We have gone past the simple telephone and came up with ways to send information that would put the old cartoon show, "The Jetsons" in the stone age, and were are constantly improving beyond leaps and bounds on what we have today.

So as you do your day to day things in life, remember that you are able to do so because of how fast our technologies are going. We all have had our lives improved in many ways, medical, technical, how we travel to and fro, and any means one can think. If there could ever be a "Golden Age," it would be in the hear and now and beyond our own imaginations.

Emerging Technology Promises to Bridge Web, Desktop

The Internet in the 21st Century and Beyond.

It is amazing what computer engineers come up with in todays technologies. Just about day after day, science fiction shows are constantly trying to keep up with today's science fact. If things are moving so fast, why are post-secondary schools not keeping up or teaching old methods of operating computers and other technologies?

One is for sure the most understand able factor, the money to have the latest information and the latest hardware and other equipment. Another is training the instructors to teach this information. They are other very good reasons I am sure, but just the same, schools need to start focusing on keeping up, or students will graduate without know what to do and how to do it. Surely companies want fresh students to run the ever fast growing technologies, but if the students are not trained properly, then how can they do the job?

In this article, the work that is needed will not be done with out proper trained individuals working as a team. This work behind the scenes cannot be done without the proper and up-to-date training from schools. Know about only about the 1980s technologies will not cut it for the technologies of the 21st Century and beyond. Nor will the education stop after graduation. Students must have the drive and abilities to continue their education by teaching themselves as new things will constantly pop up near day after day.

As the old saying, "Life is an on going process." This is even more so today. The rules have changed. The way we do things years ago cannot be applied in the 21st Century. See how quickly the Internet has been for all of us since it became commercial in the early 1990s. How we doing things online is totally different, and sometimes a lot easier. It takes new properly educated students to get these new and wonderful task that we have all taken for granite as we constantly use our technologies in our day-to-day lives.
