The Browser: Analyzing the tech biz Earthlink: Could VOIP be the answer? «

In this article are great examples of companies/projects that are proprietary and the failures in it. Today's Internet must not be proprietary if a future is going to go along with it. AOL has failed do to its proprietary issues.

Let's face it, the Internet can never be controlled. Businesses must have its project that are online in that same regards. The only thing businesses can do is ride the wave the the great super highway of the Internet. All that you know of the Internet is just the beginning of what can be done.

The multimedia is not going to go away. It can only improve, and it has and will continue to show its wonders.

Commentary: Why "Good Enough" Is Good Enough

Commentary: Why "Good Enough" Is Good Enough

Interesting article. With so many major companies putting their money and entire business on the web 2.0, the rest of the world needs to be able to keep up. This means that penny pinching will not do. Already consumers are demanding and even using the Internet to their tailored needs. If certain companies do not get on board and design their websites in the same fashion, then they will be only remembered in the history books.

So what is Web 2.0? The simplest answer is "Communication." People want to communicate. Consumers want to be able to communicate in real time. Email can be considered as slow as snail mail of no one replies in an ASAP manner. Even I expect companies to reply in a quick and orderly fashion with a reply to why I emailed them in the first place. I also expect them to give their reply in a careful professional manner. Another words, I want them to give me what I ask for. or in the assurance that they will do the task in the best manner possible.

It is true for years that businesses have toll free numbers to call to relay information to the company, but the phone operator is just that, an operator. He/she cannot give true responses to the consumer because they do not have the authority to do so. With the email or other form of online communication, there are usually no replies. To how I look at it, one way communication is not communication at all.

The meaning of "communication" is The activity of communicating; the activity of conveying information. One way communication is not actively conveying anything. That is where Web 2.0 comes into play. It brings the consumer and the business together by applying structured-oriented Application (SOA). This is where Content Management Systems (CMS) like WordPress comes it play. A business can design their website to make it easier for both the consumer and the business to actively convey information to even on a "real time" manner.

As big companies like Cisco continues to grow and perfect Web 2.0, what is going on today with Web 2.0 has not crossed the starting line. There are so much more that can be done with this personal real time active conveying of information online that no one can at this moment in time see the wonders of it all. The limit of the human being is almost limitless.

Java Kernel plan proceeds

Java Kernel plan proceeds

Here is one of the complexities of many that has to do with Web 2.0. That is why SOA and CMS is so important. Let's face it, who goes to the "text only" websites? Customers demands the Internet to tailor to their needs and wants. Even I will leave a website it I have to spend number of pages to find what I want and cannot find it.

With Java and other aspect of doing things online makes the complexities of it a lot more simpler for the ones creating the website or whatever as well as the customers. If a business's customers are not happy, they will go elsewhere.

Cisco and Microsoft CEOs Share Vision for the Future of the Industry: Q

Cisco and Microsoft CEOs Share Vision for the Future of the Industry: Q

This article surely proves my point that "proprietary" is OUT!! This does not mean of course that individual companies will not function as themselves alone. It means that in order for companies to function in and with Web 2.0, they will have to swallow their pride and work together for the benefit of their customers and everyone else as a whole.

A lot a great changes has been done in the computer field in all aspects, but all of that is not even considered crossing the starting line when it comes to what Web 2.0 can do for each and every one of us. I believe that it will take us as individuals to fully make up the complexity of what Web 2.0 and beyond. This is the world of technology. It is what an individual thinks up that will allow Web 2.0 to grow beyond anyone's hopes and dreams.

When I have said, "The power is yours," I mean it. The power of the Internet is not controlled by companies like Cisco and Microsoft. It is controlled by everyone, the dreams, the future, everything. Since now nearly everyone uses the Internet, they want it to customize to their needs and wants. Web 2.0 is a true Internet. What the future holds for the Internet is up to all of use as individuals and all of us as a whole.

Linux.com :: Share your open source success story

Linux.com :: Share your open source success story

After reading this very small article, I thought about sharing a very important aspect that I strongly believe that all companies today should accomplish. That is leaning towards "open source." What is so great about "open source" is what has everything to do with the Internet. If it was not for "open source" online, then where would our wonderful technology be?

We owe the technology that we have online to "open source." Our future depends on it. I heard a speech from someone that said that "proprietary" is out. I fully agree with that. If any companies are out there that are sticking to proprietary will be labeled in the history books. Commodore Business Machines is not more due to it, along with several other businesses.

If web 2.0 is going to work, then companies are going to have to swallow their pride and focus on the reality of Web 2.0. "Open Source" is here to stay, and I strongly think it is a vital ingredient to the future of computer technology including the Internet.

Intel's Transistor Technology Breakthrough Represents Biggest Change to Computer Chips In 40 Years

Intel's Transistor Technology Breakthrough Represents Biggest Change to Computer Chips In 40 Years

I know here lately I have been posting information other then web design, but how things are so inter-related, it is not just only web design. It is going to take a whole lot more. If one goes to a online job bank like Monster.com, Career Builder, Computers Jobs, etc., you will find that a lot of companies are looking for programmers/coders as we as someone to design web pages.

With web 2.0 going into the swing, I believe a lot more interesting things will be needed to do in order to design web pages. With CMS, one can design a web page without needing to know that much even about designing web pages. That is why I am so excited about Web 2.0. The word "interactive" has a very unique and wonderful meaning.

As with this post, I wanted to share the wonders of nano-technology. Think about it a computer chip with "45 nonometer transistors." I have heard this quote several times, "Yesterday's science fiction is today's science fact." To tell you the truth, the term "yesterday" in the regard has a whole new meaning. It a lot of ways science and technology has surpassed science fiction that would make "warp speed" appear to be slower then a turtle.

With all that I have been learning about web 2.0 and other things regarding computer technology, I have to say, "All of this has not yet crossed the starting line of what can be done. If there can ever be a "Golden Age," then this time in Earth's history would be it. We can do more with our technology then humans have throughout history. All we have to do is continue that line of thinking, so parents allow your children to open their minds and souls to the future. The power is theirs.

VIDEO: Cisco's Virtual Company Meeting - The Platform: The Official Cisco Blog

This is why I think that Second Life is going places for the future of technology. It is a big part in virtual conferencing. It also can be a whole lot more then what SL is right now. It strongly believe that SL has barely touched the starting line of what the future has for the Internet. As I post more and more, information in this blog, I think that will prove that I am right.

After listening to this audio recording, I thought about sharing it on this blog. It shows how important using the Internet as a form of communication. In order to do this on a personal level, there has to be more then the simple 2-dimensional Internet. That is why CMS, SOA, virtual reality systems like Second Life, and others comes into the picture.

Service-Oriented Architecture is a means of organizing this complexity of personal Internet to the fullest and allowing this personal Internet to grow a fast or as slow more freely. Because each individual is different, then so will how the online services will be, tailored to the user's needs. As us individuals grow, so well our needs.

Open Source Projects at Microsoft's CodePlex and Windows Vista

The Internet in the 21st Century and Beyond.

Yesterday I have watched a video from Dell's World on Second Life on Windows Vista. Everyone had great things to say about this new operating system, but the reality of it things are not working all that great with the new Microsoft Windows Vista. I am sure that is life. One can say good things about their products and have it not work to perfection.

The point of even posting this article here in this blog is to state that I wonder if Microsoft is really lining up with today's technology. Open source for example is a big thing for many businesses. This is wonderful because programmers can edit the code to fit their business needs. That is how companies have bee doing their business for many years before computers. Now here is one company that is not allowing their customers to continue to fulfill that same concept.

With all the fast growing aspects of technology including computers, one either falls behind or they fly with the future. There are so many aspects that are going on now like Service Oriented Architecture(SOA), Content Management System (CMS), Second Life, and many, many others that need to have an operating system that will not fail them a good deal of the time. Both companies and layman alike needs to have a steady flow of everything running smoothly.

It is said that people will not wait too long for a web page to load. If an operating system crashes or given them other problems, then bad news for the future of that company. It is amazing to me that computers work half as good as they do now, but that is not excuse for Microsoft or whomever to have their OS failing all the time.

Electronic discovery - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I cannot find that much on e-discovery, so I went to my favorite website to link up to on this subject, http://www.wikipedia.com. What I have learn is not much, but it seems that it is doing it best to supersede the CMS that we know now today. For right now it appear that lawyers are using it for the most part. More I learn about e-discovery, I will post it here as with anything new online. :D

Trends: Open Source ECM continues to grow

Trends: Open Source ECM continues to grow

I knew from the start that CMS would grow, but I would never thought it would be in other countries so soon. I have believed and I still do, that this new Internet, web 2.0, will be a world wide thing if not beyond. After all man is working hard to go back the moon and even Mars. Who knows where else we will be going?

With this new system online "Second Life" there is really no limit any of us can do as far as technology is concern. It still amazes me how fast we have grown within the computer world. From the Commodore Pet to what we have today in a very short time. These days when we buy a computer it goes obsolete once we get into our car and drive away.

For our today's technology to grow it will take all of us individuals to do it. Look how many people are using "Second Life." Look how many business are using it. There are other worlds out there. Second Life virtual world is one of them. What will we have tomorrow?

This is why Web 2.0 has and will make it

The Internet in the 21st Century and Beyond.

I remember seeing science fiction shows that used a universal communication throughout the galaxy. From what I understood from it, this form of networking could not function without everyone personal attention. Right now we are doing that here on Earth. Web 2.0 is that personal interaction that allows what we have on the Internet to grow beyond the original idea that started web 2.0 in the first place.

Second Life is reaching that goal. At the moment of this posting I do not know that much, but since I have heard a few great things about it, I will learn all that I can. I can assure you that I will have a post or two on it. I am sure there are others internet activities that are out there that may not be as popular as "Second Life," but they will one day grow into wonderful things. MySpace is another great activity that is growing in a wonderful way.

The educational field is taking great leaps with the Internet. It is much quicker to update things online then to publish a book or two. Today's technologies can allow students to use the Internet anywhere at anytime by the use of wireless devices. The biggest issue with me in going to secondary school is that it was very limited. I ended up learning more out of high school then I did in. Now with Web 2.0 and beyond, I can do the same with post-secondary education.

I do not know that may schools that teach anything about "Content Management System" or any other web 2.0 aspects. Just the same there are at least tons upon tons of proper and correct information dealing with this subject. I strongly believe that technical school will be obsolete when it comes to the issue on business education their employees. Most of this information is free of charge for anyone to get their greedy little hands on. I strongly believe that education should be free.

When you go to a post-secondary school, you are paying the equipment (books, lab equipment, etc.). The actual education is priceless. This is not what students pay for. In fact, students can even learn a great deal more on the subject being taught on their own. This may be a shock, but it is a strong reality. Think of it this way: a class is about 1 to 2 hours each day. The student is responsible to learn a lot more outside the classroom. This time can take up 6 to 8 hours easy.

Anyone that has been through a post-secondary educational system ever found him/herself that has finished with the class or even a entire program not fulfilled with what has been taught? It seems that the class time is shorter and shorter each and every year. The school is thinking of their financial concerns and not the students results. This may be considered very negative for the students that is concerned their career. Before anyone feels the bottom drop, consider this: at least in the United States of America, citizens have the freedom to take their career in their own hands.

This article is a good example to say that technology is growing faster then most business can keep up with. Even most post-secondary schools are behind the eight ball in teaching the most up-to-date materials needed for what the students need to know in order to get the career they are after.

Spite all the frustrations that everyone is having, new things pop up at last daily. The future is here and will not go away as far a technology is concerned. We all must do our part in helping each other to keep up with this very fast growing wonder we call technology.

The Versatility Of Content Management Software - Online Busi...

One of the first things to look for in a Content Management System is whether it is user-friendly, which can accommodate multiple users with varying skill levels. There is some software which can be installed on your server or PC, and there are some which are hosted by the system developers and accessed over the internet. The latter is less expensive, but come with some good options like, ‘software-on-demand’ which means that you only pay for the time you use it. Another important thing to look for in the features of the CMS is whether it has all the features of Microsoft Word. This makes the task of the content developers easy while creating and editing the web content. CMS system can be used for both small and large business enterprises.

Some Content Management software allows limited access to content developers certain pre-authorized areas within the system.

Staying Motivated

The Internet in the 21st Century and Beyond.

With the fast growing Internet technology, it is hard to stay motivated. All the money and time that goes into learning about any form of computers, by the time we are finished with the education what we learned is obsolete. It take motivation to constantly keep up with the fast growing field of computers.

For me it took me eight years at Lanier Technical Institute/College in Oakwood, Georgia with one certificate and three diplomas. I am not disappointed on bit. Yes it frustrating to see that all that I have worked hard for is obsolete and I will not get a job under that pacific training, but I will not give up on my goals. I have been motivated from the beginning, and I will stay that way now to the time I die. To give up is to lose, and losing is not in the cards for me.

Writing this blog is a help in motivating myself in learning the newest technology that is out there. Right now I have not seen any school teaching things on "Content Management System," SOA, AJAX, or any thing that has to do with Web 2.0. Since it is new, I can see how it can be hard for them to figure out what to teach, and what businesses are expecting from new trained employees. Yes, web 2.0 has been around in the early 2,000, but as I write, new things are popping up all the time. I see it all the time.

I hope that after reading this article that motivated me to write this post, I hope that all of you will constantly be motivated to ride the future of today's technologies regarding computers. Never give up.

Opinion: What Web 2.0 is (and isn't)

The Internet in the 21st Century and Beyond.

This article is the reason why I am so excited to be apart of today's Internet technology. It allows so many to express themselves and come up with even more great ideas online with hardly any programming skills. I say let's leave it up to the programmers to do the coding and let the rest come up the the dreaming up of new things and ideas. If the coders work with the dreamers, then there is nothing that cannot be done online as well as any other form of computer technology. Let's face it, the trend seems to be going forward with the Internet.

With dial up nearly being put on the shelves with the rest of the history books, everyone will end up with some form of broadband that will allow them to be constantly connected online. Since web 2.0 is a personal web service, where is the limit of what can be done online. Blogging has went past expectations as quickly as the first blog was posted. Business are able to understand their customers a lot better then they could ever dream of. There are more interactiveness online then it was when the first telephone was created.

Communication is at its peek and still climbing. The only thing that has not you been developed and used by the public as a whole is virtual reality with the Internet. Think about the possibilities. A furniture store can have a virtual warehouse of all their wares. The customers could even move the virtual furniture around as they could do in the real world. Customers can even create their own showroom based on their on dimensions of the rooms they want to furnish. The possibilities are endless and very cost effective for both business and consumer.

I would not doubt one day that the Internet will replace televisions. It would be the best way to protect from others from wrongly copying what is being shown. It also would be very cheep for the one that is presenting the program. Only one copy per server basis. There are thousands upon thousands of movie theaters in the USA alone. That alone takes a big chunk out of money. With the Internet a much less amount of copies are needed for millions upon millions of computers to see the same program at the same time.

A lot of businesses are already do just that. Their customers do not have to go to a rental store in order to watch a movie or wait for a copy to come in the mail. These and ever so much more can be done online that can benefit millions of people. A lot of career jobs are done right in the homes of the employees. In your next technical support phone call or even online support could be someone is their birthday suit while in their own homes.

Web Design in the 21 Century and Beyond

It is wonderful to see how the Internet has progressed over the years. It started with simple text to multimedia in every shape and form. Now with Web 2.0, we can do thing online then every could been imagine when ARPA Net started in the late 60s. In the past few years, video has popped up in a dramatic scale. Everyone is using it even politician running for the 2008 President race in the United States of America.

Since my goal is to get a career job in the web design field, I have been doing countless research on the Internet and web design. With all the information that is out there, I am starting to see that I need to categorize this information. I also have been seeing a need to communicate all of this to the public in the same category manner. If I can get confused with all that is going on with the Internet and web page design, then a good number of people will sure do the same.

The newest thing I see that is going on with the "web page design" is what is called "Content Management System." That in itself is an undertaking to learn for me. I recently heard about it, and I am sure that a lot has changed since it was developed. I think decided that I need to write a blog on all that information that I have gathered for not only for myself, but anyone that is willing to read what I have in this blog.

This blog, as well as all my blogs, will have the ability to allow others to post their comments after each and every posting. I strongly believe in a team work effort. No one can learn any subject fully alone. To hear from others, would be great way to experience new way of an idea. So please post any comment you have. I will of course read all of them before they are posted. Thanks for your time in visiting this blog and hope to hear from all of you soon.
